'Peace Descending' features a white dove gracefully decending / hovering above the surface of still water. The orange and pink colouration of the sky in low light suggest a setting sun. You should be able to see an underpinning effect of rays in the background.

This forms part of my Christian art collection. The bible mentions doves descending as a sign of the Holy Spirit in several places, and also as a sign of peace.

When Jesus was baptised in the River Jordan a dove descended from heaven and landed upon him, (Matthew 3:16)

The dove is often used to symbolise the Holy Spirit. In the book of Genesis in the Old Testament we are told that the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters, Genesis 1: 1-2).

From a very early age I have been fascinated by paintings and imagery that capture mood and emotion by good use of colour and the illusion of sparkle.
