Description
The resurrection of Jesus Christ following His crucifixion on a cross fulfilled bible prophesy in the Old Testament written long before He was born.
This scene, set in early morning, shows Jesus just after He rose from dead, accompanied by the two angels who rolled away the heavy tomb stone.
This 100cm x 80cm painting stems from a vision I had several years ago, in which I saw the stone rolled to the right hand side of the tomb door entrance and Jesus standing in front with his arms raised in worship and praise to God the Creator. The angels have their hands stretched toward Jesus as a mark of respect for Him.
A visit to the Garden Tomb just outside of the walls of the Old City in Jerusalem late in 2014, brought with it a determination to paint the scene as I first saw it. The uplifting sense of peace of just being there was, and still is indescribable.
